10 Male Celebrity Hairstyles You Should Steal Right Now

Summer is a good time for men to think about new hairstyles. Though longer styles are in as they have been for the past couple years (think of the man bun or topknot), shorter styles are rising in popularity just in time for the summer heat. And there are a lot of options for guys that extend past simple buzzcuts. With the best stylists available to them, actors and other celebrities are one of the best sources of inspiration for new hairstyles. Whether you're growing your hair out, cutting it off, or doing something in between, let these celebrity hairstyles guide you to a better summer and 2017.

Zac Efron’s Hairstyle

With his role in this summer's Baywatch reboot, why not start with Zac Efron? Long past his High School Musical hair days, Efron has generally stuck with one style through the years (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?). His simple style is quite versatile, as it can be combed or slicked back into a formal style, or turned into the I-rolled-out-of-bed-looking-like-this, perfectly messy look. In Baywatch, he rocks a cut that's longer on the top so that it can be slicked straight back (that's not the last time you'll see that kind of cut on this list).

Will Smith’s Hairstyle

From high tops to shorter fades, Will Smith embodies the word "fresh." Though the 90's high top is a bit dated, a shorter, more modern, and more subtle cut is a completely viable hairstyle for black men (mustache optional). Will Smith is also a living example of why a classic buzz cut is sometimes the best option. If you have the face and head shape for it, it just works.

Charlie Hunnam’s Hairstyle

Charlie Hunnam has also experienced the glory of the clean, slicked back look (and is one of probably very few men who could pose with a sword without looking like a dork). Alternatively, keeping the sides long works well, too, just in case you're not ready to lose the long hair. Also, notice how his beard, while not especially full, still adds distinction to each of these styles, from long to short. It's all about learning how to make what you have work for you.

Chris Hemsworth’s Hairstyle

The change in Chris Hemsworth's hairstyle from the previous Thor movies to his hairstyle in Thor: Ragnarok is the perfect example of why short styles are on the rise. The shorter cut with a well-kept beard is a more the rugged look, and it requires less management than shoulder-length hair. If you decided to rock the locks in 2016, now may be the time to go to the other end of the spectrum with a shorter cut. It's a drastic change, but Chris Hemsworth's cut is proof that this isn't a bad thing.

Harry Styles’ Hairstyle

Harry Styles has parted ways with the long, more boyish hairstyle to something a bit more refined. His new look is a great example of how a shorter cut can add a lot of maturity to a man's look, particularly if he's one with a young-looking face. The change in style comes with the release of his first solo album, and is perfect for men looking to make their image a bit more mature.

Bruno Mars’ Hairstyle

Bruno Mars has some thick, thick hair, which he has taken advantage of to rock several very different looks, from a classic pompadour to an afro. If you have thicker hair, or prefer to stay clean shaven, Bruno Mars' hairstyles offer a range of inspirations. These retro styles bring to mind much funkier decades. Bruno Mars is a great reminder of why it's a good idea to draw inspiration from recent decades to craft a unique, vintage look.

Jared Padalecki’s Hairstyle

Jared Padalecki has been melting the hearts of Supernatural fans since 2005 with his shaggy look. This isn't a style seen much these days, probably because it's a lot harder to pull off. But based on the amount of articles on the internet dedicated entirely to his hair, Jared Padalecki must be doing something right. If anyone has ever told you, "You look like the guy from Supernatural," take it as a compliment. (Fun fact: the Supernatural wiki has an entire page dedicated to his character's hair. Supernatural fans do not mess around.)

Adam Levine’s Hairstyle

Much like Zac Efron, Adam Levine has mostly stuck with one style, with some variations here and there. There's a reason guys like him have stuck with these styles: they work. They look good, are versatile, and are relatively easy to manage. Go from the tousled look to the formal look in a matter of seconds. With cuts like these, it's a good idea to try out different lengths on the sides (like this or this) until you find something that suits the shape of your face.

Chris Pratt’s Hairstyle

Chris Pratt has fairly wavy hair, and favors shorter, even styles, and they suit him well. If you have a rounder head like him, his hairstyles will serve as good models. His look can be both rugged and boyish, and if you've seen Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or Parks and Recreation, you know how well that look suits his personality.

David Beckham’s Hairstyle

David Beckham has been rocking that slicked back look for years. He has consistently had one of the best and most recognizable haircuts in professional soccer (not to mention the rest of the sports world). His slicked back cut somehow manages to look rugged and formal simultaneously. There's a reason why this cut is one of the more popular celebrity hairstyles. David Beckham, Zac Efron, and Charlie Hunnam have all rocked it, and that’s as good an endorsement as any.

These celebrity hairstyles will work with many hair and face types, whether you're looking for something long, short, or somewhere in between. Now is as good a time as any to try a new look, so it might be worth it to show a few of these pictures to your barber next time.
